Leaders need followers...

There are some distinctive differences between leaders and managers. To put it quite simply: leaders lead, managers manage. But what does that mean?
Leaders lead by defining and conveying a crystal clear vision of where they are headed. Inherent in that vision is the answer to their potential followers' question of: "what's in it for me"? Put another way, "why should I follow you?"
Leaders can't be leaders without followers. Yet many attempt to do just that.
Think about the greatest leader you ever had the privilege of working with or for. What was it about that leader and his or her vision that made you want to be a follower? Now think about a leader who attempted to lead you, but failed. What stood in their way? What was missing for you?
Think about it. Leaders lead. Who's following you?
